Finnish perspective

As a Finn I'm of course trying to encourage packrafting in my own country. Finland is an exceptionally easy country to approach for wilderness travel since we have many free services for trip planning and so forth.

Outdoors.fi contains loads of information about almost every outdoor destination in Finland. There's everything from small day trip locations to unimaginably large wilderness areas.

Excursionmap.fi has accurate topographic maps and satellite photos of every square meter in Finland and easy-to-use user interface. Expedition planning couldn't be much easier.

National Land Survey of Finland has a service where you can download any of those maps for free. They have technically any map ever made of Finland.

Finland's Environment Administration has a large network of water measurement stations and updates the situation to their website daily. The English version is not as comprehensive (e.g. all the measuring points are not included) as the Finnish one but your can try using Google Translate, although I can assure the translation will be amusingly false. =)

Matkahuolto handles the majority of public bus traffic.

VR is a state-owned enterprise which handles all train traffic in the country.

International perspective

Roman Dial & Roaming Dials. Roman Dial is widely considered to be the "father of packrafting". He's also the author of the book Packrafting: An Introduction & How-to Guide, a well-known packrafting guide. Roman sells his book directly through his blog.

Luc Mehl & Things To Luc At.

Packrafting.org is an international packrafting web forum sponsored by Alpacka Raft and maintained by American Packrafting Association.

Packrafting.de is a blog written by Sven Schellin & Marc Kreinacker. The same guys also maintain the Packrafting Store.

Packrafting Store is the central source of packrafting equipment in Europe.

Manufacturer's websites

Alpacka Raft makes boats which are legendary though and they've also designed very good spray decks for their boats. Alpacka also was the first to attach a TiZip zipper into the boat's tube thus creating the Cargo Fly system.

Feathercraft is the maker of Baylee boats which have self-bailing floor option.

FlyWeight Desings is the creator of extremely ultralight Flytepacker boat.

NRS also has one packraft model.

Kokopelli Raft Co is a new company in packraft business. They have at least plans for three different boats which should be "available soon".
